How televisions have evolved over the past 80 years

Televisons have changed dramatically over the years and are apart of everyday life. The first ever tv was invented in 1925 by John Baird. It was big, bulky and heavy with not the prettiest design. Not many familes were able to afford a tv because of the pay they were getting from their jobs. The jobs back then weren't good enough for a lot of families to have a television. Colour televisions were then introduced in 1953 but it wasnt until the 1960s that more and more colour televison were introduced. In todays world tv's have become better and better with the style of it, the weight, the colour resolution and the quality of the picture. In 1996 sony brought out large flat screen tv's. At the same time though flat screen tv's were able to purhcase but only in a limited amount of sizes. A year after Sharp and Sony brought out the first large flat screen tv. It was a record 42 inches. Since then technology has expanded and evolved. Televisons have been used a lot within education, videos and films are shown to help the students with work they are doing. what does the future hold?

Testing a web2 app: Voki

Voki is an educational website which allows you to create your own talking character. The characters can be created so you can make them look like famous people, superheroes, animals, aliens, cartoons and even yourself. You can give your character a voice and change it to many different voices from different countries. With this you can write messages and then if your press play it will say it in the voice that you have chosen. There is an unlimited amount of characters that you can make. These voki characters that you make can be sent in an email, uploaded onto social websites or even embedded onto your own websites. There is also voki classroom which lets the teachers use it for they lesson to make it more interesting and exciting. Voki is very useful for teachers as they can plan their lessons using it and then all the children in the class will be able to see it so the children will enjoy it more. Voki is becoming increasingly popular and more and more schools, universities and colleges are using it because it is a fun way to get a point across to student. I believe voki is very effective.

Blog review - A new approach

I have made my decision to do my blog review on " A new approach." This is basically how education is keeping up to date with all these changes to technology and how it also going to benefit education in the future. The reason why i have decided to have a post on this is because I find it interesting and I am into all the new up to date technology myself. It will also relate to my assignment visual communications that I am currently completing in university. One of the reasons why I chose to put this into my blog list was because it seemed much more interesting and fun than the others. It wasn't just plain boring texts it included images, audio, videos and animations. This made it more fun to read and look at how education is changing due to new technology. Not just was the lay out and display was good the information and topics that were included in these posts are interesting and wanted me to read on and find out more about it, it was eye catching. Overall i found this blog inspiring so therefore it is in my blog list for all my followers to see and read.

Vygotsky - Zone of Proximal Development

Vygotsky is a constructivist theorist. one of his theory's was the "Zone of Proximal Development" (ZPD)  Vygotsky once said the ZPD "is the distance between the actual development level as determined by independent problem solving and the level of potential development as determined through problem solving under adult guidance or in collaboration with more capable peers."  this basically is the difference between what a learner can do with help and what a learner can do without any help.  The Zone of Proximal Development consisted of three 3 stages. The first stage was where the child would not be able to learn even with the help of others such as family and teachers, there is no way for the child to learn in this stage. The second stage is where the child would be able to learn but they would need assistance or guidance to succeed in what they were learning. Finally the third stage is where the child would be able to learn with no guidance what so ever. they are capable of learning on their own.

TEDtalk

Michelle Obama was growing up as the daughter of a pump operator for the Chicago water department, education has always been important in their family. She is an American Lawyer and write and also the wife of the President of the United States Barack Obama. The video is called " a plea for education" and it talks about how each children should take their education seriously. In her words she said " It is this new, brilliant generation, she says, that will close the gap between the world as it is and the world as it should be". The video means that everyone should help each other to "close the gap" and make education a better place for children to learn and to think positively about the future. One of the sentences she said was "you can control your own destiny". I found this very inspiring because you can accomplish anything if you have the right attitude and work hard towards all the aspect of life. I really liked this video and it has made me think that about all the things that we can do to improve education for the future and also we need to believe in what we do to move forward.

My Seven Photo Story: Landscape

My inspiration for this blog was to  focus on the "landscape" around the Swansea area. I came up with this idea while I was walking along Langland, Caswell Bay and Clyne Gardens.
